I joined C Co. 1/20 AMERICAL that August. The wounds to Delta were drill fresh. “Calley Company”, a nickname we were still stuck and stigmatized with, would see combat that Summer and Fall, 1971. Ironically, the last AMERICAL troops to die KIA/KHA in Vietnam – were C Co. brothers Hojnacki and Sheaffer on the very day CPT walked out of his court martial a free man.
