This past weekend in SE Michigan, a new Memorial Monument was dedicated to the Gold Star Families. The hour and a quarter event was taped and made available on YouTube today. I’ve captured it here for those of you who are interested in viewing it.
A dedication ceremony was held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 for the Clinton Township Gold Star Families Memorial Monument. A Gold Star Family includes the immediate family members of a fallen service member who died while serving in a time of conflict.
The black granite monument features two sides — one side bearing the words “Gold Star Families Memorial Monument, a tribute to Gold Star Families and relatives who sacrificed a loved one for our freedom,” and the other side featuring four granite panels with the words “Homeland, Family, Patriot, and Sacrifice” inscribed.
The monument is located between the Clinton-Macomb Public Library Main Branch and the Clinton Township Civic Center. If you are in the area, please stop by to view this great work of art.
John, that’s a beautiful monument. Thanks for sharing it, and I’m so glad it is one of those monuments that truly deserve to be standing and isn’t one that many might find offensive for so many valid reasons. There are some parts of history that cause pain when the memory is stirred up by certain visuals.

Incredible! I pray that this is one monument the destroyers of history are never allowed to tear down!

Long overdue. Tribute to the fallen of the Vietnam war participants comes in baby steps. What a shame.
