My original intent was to publish a post with videos of actual Vietnam War footage that included popular tunes from groups at the time. However, as a result of my post last week (35 tunes from the Vietnam War Era) many of you suggested tunes that were not included in either post, in fact, some of those listed were new to me. I collected all the recommended titles and artist names from the comment section of the previous post and also from my FB groups. So, a 19 video post has now evolved into 45.
I do have other video collections on this website – I’ve included the links at the bottom of this article. The suggested additions may or may not include footage from the war. However, where possible, I did look for them. Besides, I believe that most of you will sit back and close your eyes anyway and just bask in the sounds. This has turned out to be quite a collection. Enjoy!

Great piece (and terrific videos). You have captured so much about “our era” in these videos and songs. The music drove so much for us then. Thank you!!!

Hell, brings back so many memories — some good; some bad. the music of this era can soothe or stir up feelings and incidents. But there is always some songs that can make you feel good and achieve some degree of calm.
Thanks,

Right on, Bro. Great song and probably invoked a lot of sentiment and emotions while in the Nam.

I didn’t see Satisfaction by The Rolling Stones. It was one of the most popular songs during that time.

Just thinking, guys. Wasn’t A Whiter Shade of Pale (Procal Harum) a part of the Vietnam music scene? Wonder about the lyrics. Maybe I have the time frame wrong. Can anybody help me out?

Wow this is a very cool and fun article!! I remember riding in a chopper with some guys from Charlie Company 1/35 4th infantry. There was with an 8 track mounted and they were playing one of these songs (forgot which one ) as we went in and the pilot said we’re going in “hot” as the machine gunner opened up. Thanks for putting all these together and making it easy to follow the link to You Tube !! Great Job!!

So many memories, was a chinook FE and saw so much of this. Hard to explain these things to people when they ask “What’s it like?” Able to give them an idea of the crap that went on. thanks for these.

There are a few songs that came later than the Vietnam war. I do remember how important my little one speaker tape player hooked up to PRC battery was.
