Fantastic before and after pictures of Normandy in 1944 and then again in 2010 from the same angles – spanning a period of almost seventy years. From my visits to Europe, I have learned over time that people there try desperately to preserve that “Old World Charm”. If you will note by these pictures, very little has changed from from those invasion days of World War II; war damage was cleared and buildings repaired to pre-war conditions. Many towns in France and western Europe still have buildings dating back 1,000 plus years. Where else in the world might this happen?
