Readers of my novel may recall a reference to a “Wolfhound Scroll”. When the 25th Division was preparing to leave Vietnam, those of us remaining behind and transferred to other units received this remembrance of our time with the 1/27th Wolfhounds. I just located it after all these years.

“This BUDDY of mine” or “ me and my BUDDY”.
Almost every story starts out like that. My father gave me one piece of advice before I left for Vietnam…” find someone who that you can trust… ONE person, and become close friends.”
It was the best piece of advice he ever gave me.

I was a infantry 81 FO in C1/27 th Wolfhounds fall 67-fall 68. Enjoy reading your posts. I Was fortunate that being assigned as A replacement was assigned to A well blooded unit, which was instrumental. We had our share of hot LZs, fire-fights, perimeter attacks, Certainly Tet of 68 and particularly for myself danger-close missions . Our platoon mortars, gunners and FDC could put rounds on dime for me. Fortunately for us the gun squad leaders could often have our rounds out to enemy mortars before their rounds landed, which sometimes took their guns out.
