I am trying to compile a list of popular websites relating to the Vietnam War and its veterans. Which sites do you frequent most often and why? Please publish the website address below with a short note of what it’s about. This will allow your fellow readers of this blog an opportunity to visit and expand their own community. Thanks for your participation.
What is your favorite Vietnam War or Veteran website?

https://johnsweetsvietnam.wordpress.com/ This blog tells a story about a college student who was sent to VietNam to fight in 1968 or so. Nixon had been elected after promising to end the war, and instead he was escalating. Soon it would spread to Laos and Cambodia. This blog is well-written, impeccably edited, and includes an audio tape Sweet made with his fellow GIs while in VietNam. The accompanying photos bring Sweet’s experience to life.

John-I needed to know what really happened over there. I’ve read some books but want to learn from people like you. My favorite Veteran Website is probably not known by anyone else but it’s where my uncle is buried. He was career military (Air Force) and was active and still flying planes and served too many tours (1 tour is too many). He entered a strong (mental and physically) a strong man but left (Viet Nam) and never spoke about it. I can only guess is that if it had been easy (to talk about), he would have. And while I’ll never get the “facts” about what trauma he witnessed, I can only assume it was too much. How does one, my uncle, a Captain in the Air Force die of alcoholism at 37 years of age the days after he flew his last flight. Thank you for sharing what NEEDS to be shared. And thank you for serving.

My favorite Vietnam Veteran Web Site is right there! As far as “Cherries” goes, I have compared it to similar genre, e,g,; Don Bodey’s “F.N.G” and Bob Miller’s “The Newbe,.” While in their own right both Don and Bob wrote enthralling novels quite entertaining, neither took hold of me, completely captivating me like “Cherries.” Until I finished it, I could not think nor did I want to do anything else. This book sets the standards….it’s THAT GOOD!!!!! “Cherries” is hands down a “must read!”
