Gerald contacted me via email. This is a copy of his request for help:
John I have been working on a V100 that served with the 504th MP, Company C in Vietnam starting in ’69. Interesting story about finding an engraved Zippo lighter in the bilge in the 80’s and we were able to not only find it’s owner, but actually placed it into his hand while he was sitting inside it 52 years later. {See photos on his FB page}

My problem has been finding a single photo of the vehicle (reg# 1304269) while in-country or anyone with firsthand history with it other than Don Tillman, who has shared as much as he can recall about it. However, I would like to capture as much trivia as possible to make this restoration as authentic as possible.
I know there have to be others out there who have something to offer in the way of information and maybe even a photograph, which I would be more than happy to pay for copies.
Considering your work in Vietnam history, do you think this is something you can help with? Again, I don’t want you to do it for nothing.
Here is the Facebook page dedicated to the project so please give it a look and let me know if you’d be interested. Thank you for your consideration.

We were sent this photo and although it’s not the Blood Sweat and Tears V100, it probably shared some of the same mud. It’s great that people are checking old photo collections for pictures, slides or negatives. All help appreciated!!

Wild shot – do you know about this museum (Wyoming) – they restore vehicles (as well) and have a Vietnam display – they “might” know a few people?

Thank you for the tip! I sent them a message and hopefully they may know where to direct me.

John thank you for helping spread the word on this project. These photos are of Don Tillman then and 52 years later when he was reunited with his Zippo lighter. Stories like this are unfortunately few and far between so any and all help is appreciated!
