A short film inspired by the short story written by Robin Bartlett. A story based on the writer’s life experience, walking “point” on the trail while patrolling during wartime in Vietnam. He tells the story for many of us.
A most profound video. Don’t pass this one by.

Well done! I never walked point but admired the guys who did. But as a RTO I wasn’t far behind. Charlie company 4th/12th, 199th Infantry Brigade in 1967.

Very powerful, makes me feel if only a little about what my Brothers in arms went through sometimes just a few meters away from where I was serving while I was stationed at NSA Danang Icorp in 66-67.
Thanks for making me aware of this if 50 some years after the fact, but then better late than never💔😢🙏🇺🇸

The months leading up to the TET Offensive were punctuated with ever increasing contact with the VC and the NVA. Nightly ambush patrols were sent out all over our AO and Eagle flights were inserted the next morning where the most contact was made. This heavy contact time span for me was Nov 67 thru May 68. Anyone leading a night ambush patrol knew that you had to be up front to be able to see the threat and make the hard decisions quickly when the firing starts.
We were usually within range of our battalion 105 and 155mm and could request gunships and spooky that were often available on short notice. All in all we had great support most of the time unless there were may other heavy contacts in IV Corp. During TET we were often on our own and got all the resources only if we had the biggest threat. In all cases the senior officer had to be up front on patrol in the field. The description of being on point in this well written short story rings so true. Well done from a former 1Lt Infantry, 2/60th Inf, 9th Inf Div
