  1. Hey! Hey! Distinctly recall working with Casper aviators. Central Highlands, Hill 474, early 1970. CA’s and resupply days…artwork must have made an impression. Grunt’s best friend is Army aviation. LZ English was your home base? We never went there…we stayed out. Never went to Camp Eagle, Camp Evans, or others.

We were OPCON to 173rd at the time. We were the unwanted stepchildren of the 101st ABN DIV hence the name…The Stand Alone Battalion…The Bastard Battalion…we were Currahees.
The only battalion of the entire division to go into Cambodia with the Nixon incursion May 1970.
At that time we were OPCON to the 4th ID.

    Huge battle May 10, 1970

    WELCOME HOME!
